Who we are: Bikers Hearts United

Purpose:

Biker's Hearts United is based in Des Moines, Iowa.

We established Biker's Hearts United for a primary

purpose:

To coordinate and participate in the build

of one theme based charity motorcycle

each year to raise funds for select

501(c)(3) charities.

Scope:

Biker's Hearts United was only established for charitable purposes. We do not build bikes for profit and never will. We have other paying jobs already in Information Technology and Human Resources. (Q) I'm often asked if I will coordinate the build of a charity bike for other organizations and their related fundraisers. (A) maybe- we need to be able to personally support the charity or purpose from a values perspective. I also need to have the time available, which unfortunately is at a premium. I will always share what I know.

(Q) I'm also often asked by fellow riders if I will work on their bikers and my rates. (A) yes- I work on bikes for fun and relaxation, but will not charge you and much depends on how much time I have available. One important stipulation is that you have to work on your bike with me as much as you can. This way you can tell your friends that you did the work with the help of a fellow biker and friend. I also won't work beyond my own skill level. If I'm not confident in a particular area, I will suggest working with some shops that can help. For example: I'm no air brush artist, but I know some really good ones.

If you need an opinion or recommendation on Des Moines or Iowa based Bike Shops or Motorcycle Service Shops. . . its likely that I've worked with them, considered working with them or know someone that's worked with them. I'd be glad to offer what I know.

Success Factors:

To ensure that the charity fundraisers we engage in are successful, we always make sure that the entire build of our charity bikes are 100% donated. This way there's no cost recovery issues- as no funds are used to recover expenses related to building the bike. If a service provider is not comfortable donating their time, materials or service we'll find alternative means to make sure everything is donated, even if this means we have to personally cover the cost and make the donation ourselves.
